What Causes Pain In Groin Area And Pressure At Tip Of Penis?

Posted on Mon, 6 Apr 2015
Question: Hi Doc,

I have been experiencing severe pain in my groin area and pressure being felt at the tip of my penis. Recent ultrasound report gave this result

"small right epididymal head cyst. Bilateral varicoceles left greater than right."

I am 32, single and not yet married. Would this be a concern for my marital life ? What is the solution to get relieved of the pain at this moment? Do i need to undergo a surgery ? Please suggest

Brief Answer:
better to undergo surgery

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thank you for your query. I can understand your concerns.

Clinically detected varicoceles are the most common abnormality in men treated for infertility, and surgical repair leads to improved semen quality in approximately two-thirds of patients, doubling the chances of conception. Hence you need to undergo surgery not only for permanent relief of pain but also fruitful married life.

Now you can use a scrotal support or suspensory bandage to ease pressure-build-up. Take analgesic tramadolol or paracetamol or their combination for relief of pain under the supervision of your doctor. Avoid doing Valsalva.

Dear Doc

Thanks for your reply. How much does the surgery cost in XXXXXXX and how long is the procedure ? Can I go for a lasik one which is popular these days or do i need to go through normal operation procedure. I have very limited time, so I want to utilize it effectively.

Brief Answer:
Varicocele

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Varicocele is can be treated by a surgery called Varicocelectomy (the surgical correction of a varicocele). It can performed on an outpatient basis where you do not need admission. It costs from 25000 to 50000 rupees in XXXXXXX depending on centre to centre. There is no laparoscopic procedure for this. The varices are just under the skin and superficial. It is inexpensive as it is a day-care surgery as you go in the morning and the doctor discharges you in the evening. However it may be done in two sittings as it is on two sides.
Consult any general surgeon. Nonsurgical method for treating varicoceles is there but not practiced in XXXXXXX centres.

Last but not the least, it seems the blood is flowing rapidly and touching the tip of my penis. I experience severe pain while urinating and in general.

Is this part of the varicocele problem? Do you suggest any medication for pain relief ?

Thanks a bunch for your help. You have been really awesome Doc.
