What Causes Pain In Buttock When Diagnosed With Diverticulitis?

default
Posted on Tue, 7 Jun 2016
Question: I had a recent bout of diverticulitis. First time. I'm 43. It was in January. I don't think my pain is related to that but not sure. I have constant shooting pains inside my buttocks. Just on left side. It comes and goes by days. Today pretty constant. Yesterday nothing. Feels like pinch/sharp pains that last for seconds. Took Advil. Thinking hemeroids? No bleeding. Serious?

Brief Answer:
Most probably a localized problem.

Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Thanks for your query.
To recapitulate: Female/43 - first time attack of diverticulitis in XXXXXXX - now constant shooting pains inside buttock on left side - comes and goes by days - pretty constant today - pinch/sharp pains that last for seconds - took Advil - wants to know further ...

My thoughts: as per the history you have provided:
does not look t be due to hemorrhoids.
Can be due to local problems of the muscles or joints nearby.
In case of females this can be due to Sacroiilitis, inflammation of the joint made by sacrum to the ilium (hip bones). This can be localized or can be felt in the muscles around.
Inflammation of hip joint may give similar pains.
Or can be a problem in the muscles like inflammation, edema, abscess formation,

I would advise you the following:
Clinical evaluation and examination by a Doctor is necessary in such cases as exact cause can then only be located, investigated, diagnosed and treated.

I hope this answer helps you to get an early diagnosis and proper investigations and treatment.

Ok thank you. So none of my symptoms seem to be anything major like cancer. Just muscle and/or joint pains?
