What Causes Pain From Mid Back Down To Knees?

default
Posted on Mon, 16 Feb 2015
Question: I have a new and troubling pain that extends from my mid-back down to my knee ( very occasionally it extends down to my big toe) It came on without provocation and very suddenly, about three weeks ago. When I walk I feel deep internal pain in the hip area. It is aggravated by turning over in bed and going up or down stairs (though I have discovered bending forward as I climb the stairs relieves the pain). I am fit and active, and of a suitable weight. What might this be?

Brief Answer:
possibility of lumbar canal stenosis.

Detailed Answer:
Hello
I have studied your case.
As per your history and symptoms and pain reliving position there is possibility of lumbar canal stenosis leading to hip pain radiating to knee.
I will advise clinical examination and further investigation like MRI spine.
on confirmation of diagnosis epidural steroid shot may help you by long term pain relief.
Till time you can take analgesic and neurotropic medication like methylcobalamine and gabapentin consulting your doctor.
