What Causes Pain Below Rib Cage Behind Breast Bone?

Question: Hi,

Off late I have dull pain below the rib cage and behind the breast bone predominantly in the left side of the body, however sometimes it is also at the right side but quite rarely.
I had taken master health check up 5 months back and everything was ok as per that. Need your advice to proceed ahead.

Thanks for your query

After going through your query I concluded that you may be having costochonditis. Rest and analgesic such as ibuprofen are primary treatment and control pain. Hot fomentation is helpful.Vitamin B and C are helpful in recovery.

You are advised to get chest x ray to exclude lung related causes and heart function test to exclude heart causes. But as you said that you had general check up recently, so these are less likely.You can discuss with your Doctor about it.
