What Causes Oral Thrush And White Spots Around Anal Area Post Protected Sex?

default
Posted on Wed, 17 Dec 2014
Question: 3 days ago I had protected sex with a stranger in Benin. The day after I had thrush which has started to clear up. I have also noticed a small red spot on my foreskin at the top of my penis shaft and also small white spots that look like Fordyce spots around my anus. The spot on my penis is only slightly painful when I touch it but it hasn't changed since I first noticed it. My anus is sometimes itchy but I have been working in a very sweaty environment.

Brief Answer:
Have you taken any drug for the thrush?

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you so much for this query.

I am so sorry to hear about the symptoms that you have reported. I find it difficult associating your symptom especially the oral thrush within 3 days to this sexual exposure. I will want that you wait a little and let's understand more about these symptoms before rushing to any possible conclusions.

This was protected intercourse and why would you just of a sudden develop these symptoms? Am afraid your fears related to this sexual encounter are responsible for these manifestations.

Did you take any drug for the oral thrush yet? If not, I question whether it is for real oral thrush. Oral thrush is not a sexually transmitted infection and primarily affects persons with a weakened immune system. This seems not to be the case here. Do you have any other symptoms that you would want us to know at this time? Your reasoning for the itchy anus is sensible.

In all, I am a bit hesitant to associate your symptoms to this sexual exposure. I will like t o see you go on and monitor for a few more days before we make any reasonable conclusions from this.

I hope this helps. Keep me updated within 48 hours about the evolution of your symptoms. Remember, am available to respond to further inquiries and provide clarifications on this.

I have not taken any drugs for thrush as I am working offshore and won't be returning home until next week. The thrush was located on my penis, I have had this before. It started with small red patches and a build up under the foreskin both of which have almost fully cleared up now. The spot on my penis is flat and shiny and doesn't appear to contain watery fluid like a blister. I sometimes feel a burning sensation in that area.

Brief Answer:
This may be allergy from the condom you used!

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I am of the thinking that this might have been cased by an allergy from the particular condom you used. There is no reason why you should develop thrush after protected intercourse unless there is something that went wrong. I will suggest you monitor for now and only seek further medical if these symptoms fill to regress fully. Like I mentioned before, the timeline is too too good to be associated to this sexual encounter.

In all, monitor a little more and report progress to me. Please, provide an image for review as well.

I wish you well.

Brief Answer:
Monitor a little longer, minimum 1week!

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I have reviewed the images and I will recommend that you monitor this for a minimum of 1week before seeking further medical attention. Unless something else comes up, this is unlikely to represent an infection at this time.

I hope this helps. I wish you well and thank you so much for using our services. I am available for updates and more responses to any worries you may still have.
