Posted on Mon, 11 Sep 2017
Question: I had carotid artery surgery a month ago and have numbness in left ear, neck and jaw and voice changes and hoarseness at times. Will this go away? I was told it is due to nerve damage and it may clear up.

Detailed Answer:
Hello Maam

After going through the medical details provided by you i can very well understand your concern and i would like to tell you that its a complication of your surgery and the recovery varies from individual to individual.

The only thing we can do is to wait and watch for atleast a period of 3 months and follow the advise given by your doctor.

Even if after 3 months there seems no improvement then you need to consult your doctor again. Also you can take the opinion of a neurologist.

I hope this information will be helpful.

Kind Regards
