What Causes Nausea After Taking Pinn-X?

default
Posted on Mon, 30 Jun 2014
Question: I took pinn-x as suggested by a physician for a pinworm infestation. My family and I all took our doses yesterday. They have all since had a bowel movement with pinworms noted in their stools. No complaints from my children at all even after taking the chalky tablets. I however was nauseous and felt icky the whole day. It has been three days since my last bowel movement. I do have a history of constipation but pretty much blame that on myself with dietary and lifestyle bad habits. Last night I felt a fullness so I tried to have a bowel movement and had extreme amounts of mucus and worms come out. But no stool, same thing again this morning. I do not feel nauseous today. However i am wondering if i should be concerned.

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX
Thanks for writing in to us.

I have read through your query in detail.
Some people do feel nauseous and experience occasional vomiting with cramps as a mild side effect to the medication. Worms coming out in stools is a sign of the medicine working effectively. If you are not feeling nauseous today then there is no need to worry. Please inform your doctor of these side effects if you are given the same medicine again. They will give an alternative preparation.

However, there is a need to modify your diet and lifestyle to avoid constipation. Please include adequate amounts of fruits and fresh vegetables in your food and drink lots of fluids.

Hope your query is answered.
Do write back if you have any doubts.

Unfortunately I know all too well about how to prevent constipation and how to be a healthy person but I am one of those moms who puts herself last always and I need to work on this. Thank you for your answer I just wanted to make sure I should not worry.
