What Causes Narrow Stool?

Question: I have heard pencil like poop is a concern. I have had more narrow poop than usual but it is not exactly as thin as a pencil. Should i be concerned.

Pencil like poop is not always a matter of concern.
It can occur in a benign condition like irritable bowel syndrome and malignant condition like growth in left colon .
I saw the pictures. The poop does not look pencil like. Growth is less likely in your case.

Take high fiber diet and fiber supplements like METAMUCIL (2 scoops in 250 ml of water and take it till you have good bowel movements).
If there is associated blood in stools and if you are constipated in spite of taking fibers, get a sigmoidoscopy done.
