What Causes Lowering Of Diastolic Pressure And Fatigue In Legs?

default
Posted on Mon, 8 Jun 2015
Question: i have been having blood pressure for more than 15 years. I was taking Losar H for a long time but since last two years i am taking cilacar 10 mg in the morning and losarton 25 mg in the evening. My BP which was 140/90 initially continued to remain stable around these levels but since last one year the diastolic pressure has come down to 72 to 74. Recently it came down to 65 while the systolic pressure went up to 148. I have increased the dosage of Losarton to 50 mg now. I am taking Urimax 40 mg for my prostate enlargement since about 10 years and Homocheck and Mccalvit 500 mg as vitamin supplements. I am feeling a bit fatigued while taking brisk walks with my feet below the ankle developing some pain. I have no other health issues except that I had gall bladder removed about a year ago and have been often having loose motions after taking morning meal or breakfast but feel normal the rest of the day. The lowering of Diastolic pressure is a matter of concern with fatigue in my legs.

Brief answer...in old age low diastolic pressure is generally a common phenomenon.
Detailed answer...
Hello,
Thanks for the query.
I have read your query and understand your concern.
It is a very common phenomenon in old age where diastolic blood pressure tends to hover around lower levels. This happens because of stiffness of arteries.Healthy arteries are flexible and blood flows through them smoothly.Stiff arteries loose this flexibility and this results in low diastolic blood pressure.
There is nothing to worry regarding this because you don't have any symptoms
In case you develop symptoms of dizziness lightheadedness or fainting, then you would need medical intervention, otherwise nothing is to be done.
Unfortunately nothing can be done to increase your diastolic blood pressure which doesn't raise your systolic blood pressure.
As far as fatigue is concerned,I would advise you to get blood levels of iron, hemoglobin,VIT B12,VIT D,calcium and serum electrolytes done to know the exact cause.
I hope it helps, however you may revert to me for any further query.
Best of luck
Thanks
