What Causes Lower Abdominal Pain On The Left Side?

default
Posted on Fri, 17 Jul 2015
Question: I have some lower abdominal pain on the left side. First signs of problem appeared last night a couple of hours before bed. I had trouble sleeping due to very mild temperature and not getting comfortable. The pain is somewhat sharp rather than a general ache. I am still passing stools and appetite is OK. I ate supper tonight, chicken, carrots, broccoli, and a side of pasta. It seems to have digested fine, no gas, bloating. I have been sipping cold water. I have a fever of about 101, feel noticeably hot, no chills. Walking is uncomfortable but running would be out of the question. I am a healthy 65, taking medication for high blood pressure. I am overweight at 275.
Most of the symptoms sound like appendix to me except the pain is on the wrong side.

Brief Answer:
It could be left sided Ureteric stone.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
As per your description,it could be pain due to Left sided Ureteric stone associated with Urinary tract infection. Ultrasound abdomen will confirm the diagnosis . Treatment depends on the Size of the stone and it's location.
If the Ultrasound abdomen is normal, then we consider the pain is due to infection of the gut, particularly colon. Please do not continue Colon cleaning pills as it may aggravate pain sometimes.
In my opinion, you should consult your doctor and get an Ultrasound abdomen. Till then, you should take Paracetamol tablet 650mg thrice daily along with smooth muscle relaxant containing Dicyclomine tablet along with a Pre and Probiotic capsule.
Hope I answered your query.
If you have any questions, I will clarify further.
Wish you good health.
