Brief Answer:
Mesentric ischemia

Detailed Answer:
HI, Madam,

I have carefully read your query and understand your concern.

The symptoms in your case point to Mesentric ischemia.

This occurs due to atherosclerotic obstruction to blood vessels in the gut vasculature.

It can present with post prandial pain and occasionally bloody stools.

Lovonex can cause prompt relief by dissoluting the formed blood clot.

D dimer can be elevated in such conditions.Post therapy this d dimer can return to its baseline values.

Definitive diagnostic procedure for this would be an abdominal angiography.

Selective cases are dealt with insitu stent placement.

Drugs like Clopilet and Ecosprin when taken on daily basis in low doses can prevent such vascular thrombotic episodes on long term.

These drugs should be taken only under strict medical supervision.

I hope this info is helpful to you.
Thank you

I'm very sorry for the confusion...that was two separate set of symptoms for two separate patients. The scenario of Ddimer elevated and plaque formation shown on us of LAC vien was post IV injection of crushed ambien. Admitted to hospital for observation given one shot of lovenox for +DDimer the swelling in the LAC went away prior to DC however pt laid with arm above head for several hours. Since DC from hospital the pt has returned to nml ADLs and the pain and swelling have returned and the knot is significantly larger. Is it possible that what the pt knows to be undisloved Meds sitting in the vien ....will the med dissolve eventually ??? The hospital knew that Meds had been injected but they referred to the spot as "plaque" and gave the patient no indication or instructions on how to treat the problem

Brief Answer:
Heparin can prevent such clots

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Yes the medicine will dissolve spontaneously in the vein.

Keep a note on the pulse and colour of the arm.

In case of feeble pulse or pallor, report to ER to consult your Doctor.

Drugs particularly low molecular weight heparin and ecosprin can prevent the clot formation.

I hope this info is helpful to you.
Thank you
