Brief Answer:
I would like to rule out autism

Detailed Answer:
Hello

Thanks for the query

The symptoms you have mentioned like lack of eye contact and deficient communication with family members along with prefers playing alone(restricted, repetitive behavior) is suggestive of "Autism".
Researchers have found a strong association between autism and prematurity.
The diagnosis is mainly by clinical evaluation and based on questionnaire.
There are Autism screening checklist available on the internet through which you can get an idea.
I would like to get him evaluated by a psychiatrist for behavioral therapy.
If the child has normal IQ(as you have mentioned that he is intelligent)the outcome is good.
Please do ask if you have any more query.
Regards
