Posted on Mon, 4 May 2015
Question: My husband has aches and pains (this has been going on for the past 5 months). He gets tired very easily and feels like he has no energy. He has had blood work done, but is only being treated for high blood pressure(which is under control). He's 62 years old and owns 2 businesses and leads a relatively active life style.

Brief Answer:
Can be due to anxiety or Vitamin D deficiency.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
Generalised aches and pains are often found in vitamin D and magnesium deficiency.

I suggest him to consult an endocrinologist and get prescribed vitamin D and magnesium supplements. The symptoms should improve with that. Also eat magnesium rich foods like bananas, beans, chickpeas, fish, nuts, soybeans, spinach etc which are natural sources of magnesium.

Regarding vitamin D levels, he needs to take a XXXXXXX of vitamin D with milk or curd once a week for 8 weeks and then once a month. Each XXXXXXX contains 60,000 IU of vitamin D. The other causes for such symptoms can be-
1. Generalized viral illness.
2. Improper diet.
3. Abnormal body posture, muscle overuse.
4. Electrolyte imbalance.
5. Hormonal disbalance like hypothyroidism.
5. Anxiety neurosis.
These need to be ruled out after a proper examination.
I hope this answers your query.
In case you have additional questions or doubts, you can forward them to me, and I shall be glad to help you out.
Wishing you good health.
