What Causes Itchy Painful Blisters On Hands And Feet?

default
Posted on Sat, 16 Apr 2016
Question: About 3 weeks ago I was in the ER for chest pains. They were monitoring me for PE as I had a laparoscopy in the beginning of January. The day after my ER visit I developed painful itchy blisters all over my hands and feet. The blisters never opened and they would stick around for a few days and then disappear. They were all different sizes. This part lasted just over a week. After the large blisters went away I was left with tiny bumps only on my extremities but worse on the legs. That was 2 weeks ago and they are still there. They itch but the burning is gone. When these smaller bumps show up they look whiter than my skin tone and then they develop a red center. I have no idea what's going on. Help!

Brief Answer:
Either erythema multiforme or dyshidrotic eczema, upload photos

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for being at healthcare magic

I have gone through your history and their are few possibilities:

Either erythema multiforme which occurs secondary to any infection in the body or due to medicines

or dyshidrotic eczema which is an endogenous eczema involving the extremities.

I would recommend you to upload the photographs of the bumps so that I have a clearer picture of the condition and can guide you better.

Brief Answer:
Seems to be erythema multiforme, take antihistaminics and topical steroids

Detailed Answer:
I have reviewed the attached photographs.

It can be erythema multiforme which occurs secondary to the intake of medicines or any infection in the body.

In such cases I recommend my patients to apply a corticosteroid like Clobetasol Propionate cream on the affected area twice daily for 7-10 days along with antihistaminic like tablet levocetrizine 5 mg once or twice daily depending on the intensity of itching.

These medicines are prescription drugs and you need to consult a doctor to get them.

Moreover if the improvement is less than normal then I recommend my patients to get a complete work up done to rule out infections.

I hope this information helps you and you are free to clear any further doubts.
