Posted on Tue, 5 May 2015
Question: hi doctor, I've been experiencing really bad skin hives all over my body. they have been occurring daily now for a few months, some really uncomfortable and on random parts usually the back, shoulder and knee areas are common. sometimes they appear elsewhere like feet, hands, beck, stomach area. they're very itchy and can't help scratching. I read that hives are not known of causes. I have no allergies to anything specific that I know of. please help!

Brief Answer:
Acute urticaria

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for the query,
You have developed acute urticaria.
It is an allergic condition.
Being allergic doesn't mean that you develop itching running nose etc.
It can present only with rashes.
Anything including food, cloth, change in climate, pollens etc can cause urticaria.
You need to find out the cause.
Treatment can be with oral anti histamines.
Steroids like prednisolone are also helpful but cannot be used for long.
I treat my patients with a non sedating anti histamine in day and a sedating anti histamine in night for 15 days.
I have seen good response with that.
you too can try this in consultation with your doctor.
Let me know if you have any other doubt.
Wishing you a good health.
Thank you

I just feel the pressure of them tightening. please see images attached. what are they?

Brief Answer:
Rosacea

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for the follow up.
There is nothing to worry.
It's appearing like rosacea.
It happens due to dilation of blood vessels which can be easily managed.
Apply a steroid cream like fluticasone in night for 15 days and a sunscreen with spf 50 daily in morning.
This should help you.
Let me know if you have any other doubts.
Thank you.
