What Causes Itchy Bumps At The Base Of The Penis?

default
Posted on Wed, 29 Jun 2016
Question: I have had symptoms for several years at the base of my penis that look like miniature bubbles that are always there and can be itchy when I sweat and they are also on my testicles all over. I am curious what this may be. There is no pain involved. I once had sexual relations with someone that was diagnosed with HPV so I am curious if this is something to do with that.

Brief Answer:
Possible Herpes infection

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for contacting HCM with your health care concerns

You are concerned about having blisters at the base of your penis that itch. You have had sexual relations with a person with HPV. My initial concern here is herpes infection. Herpes usually causes blisters with accompanying pain. I would strongly urge you to be tested fro herpes. They would take a culture of the blister to see if it is herpes.

HPV would not manifest at blisters. It would be more like warts. These may grow in clusters and do not cause any pain or discomfort. Your medical provider could just view them and give you a diagnosis. There is treatment available that sill help reduce HPV lesions.

In summary
1. Blisters more likely herpes
2. HPV warts
3. See your medical provider for evaluation and culture
