Question: Six weeks ago had ladybug sized bump at of the top pubic hair area. It itched and was somewhat painful. In the past 2 weeks it has grown, become inflamed and more painful. It is now approximately the size of a prune and is palpable. Have an appt. with PCP in 10 days, but am hoping for some information before then. Thank you.

Brief Answer:
Infected cyst/boil...

Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Thanks for your query, albeit short and specific.
To recapitulate: Female/70 - ladybug sized lump at the top of pubic hair area 6 weeks ago - itching and pain - thought to be an insect bite - now grown in the past 2 weeks , inflamed, more painful of the size of a prune - appointment with PCP in 10 days - hoping for information ...
From the history this looks to be an infected cyst or a boil that has not resolves as it usually does by body's own healing process, hence enlarged with signs of infection.
I would advise the following, to be done ASAP:
Tests of blood for CBC and to rule out diabetes.
An antibiotic and an anti-inflammatory medicines for early resolution is needed.
You may please try for an early appointment or go to the ER or so.
Earlier the better.
Till then try hot fomentation.
Anti-inflammatory medicine like Ibuprofen if it suits you.
Antibiotic needs a valid prescription.

I hope this answer helps you, please feel free to ask for further relevant queries if you feel that there is a gap of communication.
