Brief Answer:
Can be due to hormonal changes.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for trusting us with your health concern.
The irregular and heavy bleeding that your wife is having can be due to uterine fibroids, polyps or hormonal disturbances. For diagnosis, she needs to have an ultrasound scan of the lower abdomen.
To decrease the bleeding she needs progesteone pills along with hemostatic agents like ethamsylate or tranexaemic acid after consulting with her gynaecologist.
Meanwhile start taking iron supplements to combat excessive blood loss from the body.

Please feel free to discuss further. I will be glad to answer the follow up queries that you have.
Wishing you good health.
Regards.
