Question: My sister, age 80 is taking the following medicines:
aricept 10mg, memantine 10mg, artane 2cc, propanolol 10mg, cytomel 5mcg, synthyroid 75mg, gabapentin 200mg (prn) and Abilify 15mg.in the morning.

artane 2cc (dinnertime)

Lithobid 450mg, Seroquel 200mg, memantine 10mg, Artane 4cc and propranolol 20 mg all at bedtime

The concern is that she has a tendency to list her head and body to the left for approximately 75 degrees even though there is no fixed lateral muscle tightness? Is it possible that are are side effects from the above medicines either in dosage or frequency?

Brief Answer:
Yes,it is possible that there are side effects from the medicines.

Detailed Answer:
Hi dear user
I have gone through your question.
I can understand your concern.

Aricept is used to treat mild to moderate dementia caused by Alzheimer's disease.

Memantine is used for treating moderate to severe Alzheimer-type dementia.

Artane or Trihexyphenidyl is used to treat symptoms of Parkinson's disease or involuntary movements due to the side effects of certain psychiatric drugs.

Abilify (aripiprazole) is a psychotropic drug (antipsychotic) that alters brain chemical activity used to treat schizophrenia, mania, depression, bipolar disorders.

Lithium is a antimanic agent used to treat bipolar desirder.

SEROQUEL is indicated for the treatment of schizophrenia.

Your sister take a lot of drugs. The tendency to list her head and body to the left for approximately 75 degrees can be a side effect of several of her drugs.I imagine her condition like a stiffness(let me know if i 'm wrong) and this sign can be a side effect of:Aricept,Memantine,Abilify.

My advice is to consult your sister's psychiatrist and the neurologist and to discuss the possible side effects of respectively presription drugs and the possible solution for this problem.

Hope I have answered your question. If you have any further questions I will be happy to help.
