Question: Hello Dr. Rynne.
I have been having sensitivity to heat for the past 6-8 months. If the temperature of the house is above 72 I start having a coughing attack and it feels like someone is sitting on my chest.
Any thoughts?
Thank you.

I can understand your concern and i am sorry for your situation

As you explain the history i have some questions :

Have you ever be examined for other alergies like home dust or polens? If not you should.

In my opinion as you explain the history you might be alergic from akariens (dust home) and your airways are hyperactive from the heat not real alergy.

Do the following tests to rule out other factors :

Total IgE
Pneumoalergens
Prick tests
TSH

After having the results your doctor will prescribe you inhaler steroids.

If TSH is positive than a thyroid glands problem might be present too and should be treated too.

Please consult your doctor for the above or attach me the results and we will discuss again about it.

Take care
