What Causes Increased Heart Rate?

Question: I had a fast heart rate this morning about 105 bpm. I was extremely anxious when I woke up and this has made it worse. it has since gone down to 75 bpm. I am really worried about what it could be thank you

Hi,

Anxiety, fright, exercise, etc can often cause such increases. I will suggest that you monitor only for now. if this is the first time you witnessed this, unless it happens again, there is no reason to be worried as many different different benign conditions as mentioned above could explain.

If it happens again, I will suggest we do an EKG to see the exact functioning of the heart.
