What Causes Hot Flashes And Hormonal Imbalance After Replacing Mirena IUD?

default
Posted on Sat, 16 Jul 2016
Question: i have an IUD, Mirena. This is my second one in the past 6 years. The first was fine but when I had the IUD replaced a year ago I started having trouble with spotting, hot flashes and major mood swings so my gynecologist has me using the Nuvaring in addition to the IUD to balance my hormones. However, now my legs bruise for no reason and my leg veins are very prominent and sore. To the point that I don't excercise anymore from the pain. I am concerned I am experiencing a hormonal imbalance with my estrogen levels? I have been on the IUD/Nuvaring combo for 2 months now. Should I stop using the Nuvaring? I am 40 years old. Thank you for your help.

I drink 2 glasses of red wine per day. I take milk thistle, turmeric & bromelin, L-glutamine, vitamin c, probiotics, collagen with amino acids, and Hawaiian astaxanthin everyday. Shall I stop taking any of these to improve my condition?

Brief Answer:
Remove NUVA RING

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
thanks for the query to hcm,
NUVA RING with MIRENA is not a combination one should be advised on, simply because Progesterone levels may indeed get deranged along with natural oestrogen. So there are high chances that you may experience more inter menstrual spotting episodes and oestrogen/progesterone side effects.Increased bruisability and prominent leg veins can be due to oestrogen excess. I suggest stop nuva ring and continue MIRENA and then get your hormonal profile done again after 2 months. One needs to consider the possibility of premenopausal syndrome as the menopausal side effects of hot flushes, mood swings would need to be ruled out .
However you may continue robotics and supplements but try eating foods with natural isoflavones in it.

I have noticed I have small growths on my clitoris that kinda sting and burn?

I have removed the Nuvaring from my previous question, is this related to having too much estrogen?

Does it mean I have genital warts or something? I am faithful but could I have recently contracted this in the past couple weeks if he has been with someone else?

Brief Answer:
attach a picture of the lesion.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
It would be best if you can attach a picture of the bumps over the vagina, to differentiate between vaginal warts and normal mucous tissue. Please attach a picture of the lesion in the follow up.
