default
Posted on Mon, 26 Oct 2015
Question: Hi, my mother was taking ramipril low dose and had still 180 blood pressure. When her dose was doubled by the doctor, her blood pressure increased up to 200. Does that mean that ACE inhibitors do not work for her?

Brief Answer:
The dose was not enough

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Actually 2.5 was very little dose for blood pressure of 190 mm Hg abd 5mg is still little dose. Usually for patients with blood pressure of 180 and more a combination if two medications, such as ACE inhibitors and Ca channel blockers are needed.

Hope I could help you
