What Causes Heaviness In Arm And Body Pain After Hysterectomy And Oophorectomy?

default
Posted on Thu, 7 Jan 2016
Question: i have pain and 'unwillingness to be alive' or 'laziness' or' heaviness in my right arm since I had an open surgery hysterectomy and oophorectomy 12 weeks ago. my speech is somewhat slurred also. And when I go to write something by hand, more often than not I write the second letter of words first.
I'm very depressed. to the point my family want nothing to do with me. am utterly alone. Could it be because of domestic and life stress, i may have had a stroke? I have been having migraines at the very base of my head, where the neck joins the dead. unbearably painful. been going through a lot of frightening stress. am wondering did i have a XXXXXXX stroke even, and not notice. any ecg I've had (tonnes) since august have been sketchy. i have arrhythmia .. have had since was a kid. but heart is definitely broken at moment and is beating weirdly. also i feel a burning sensation inside my neck and chest and body when i eat.

Detailed Answer:

Hello,

Welcome on HCM!

I passed carefully through your medical history and would explain that, though some degree of depression really exists, your "unwillingness to be alive" and "laziness" are mostly connected with your resent surgery.

Oophorectomy deprives a woman from the beneficial effects of sexual hormones, leading to premature menopause.

That is what you are experiencing now (memory problems, decreased sex drive, vaginal dryness, hot flashes, depression or anxiety, exacerbation of pain throughout the body, etc, etc)

It is recommended you take hormone replacement therapy in order your unpleasant symptoms disappear; you need to discuss with your gynecologist about that.

Regarding your heart problems, I need to directly review a resting ECG and if possible one of your recent cardiac ultrasounds (ECHO) to give a more appropriate opinion on what kind of arrhythmia you are experiencing and its potential risks.

I don't believe you have suffered a XXXXXXX stroke, though a careful neurological status examination would clarify this issue.

Please let me know about the information I asked you.

In case of further uncertainties, do not hesitate to ask me again!

Kind regards,

Dr. Iliri

Could the pain and heaviness in my right arm, and fact my hand doesn't want to operate at its usual capabilities and hurts, mean I've had a XXXXXXX stroke?

Detailed Answer:
Hello again!

The heaviness in your right arm could be explained by a possible stroke, but not the pain.

Nevertheless, a neurological examination for neurological sign is necessary to exclude a possible stroke.

A brain MRI is needed if suspicions of possible stroke are raised.

A nerve conduction study would be necessary if suspicions of a peripheral nerve compression or neuropathy are raised. A pinched or compressed nerve could lead to pain and heaviness in the arm.

Hope you will find this answer helpful.

Greetings!
