What Causes Heart Pounding After Consumption Of Sandwich?

default
Posted on Mon, 1 Dec 2014
Question: I picked up a sub sandwich but now my heart is pounding. I didn't finish it because the bread was pretty thick. I'm 53 and a woman, regular check ups always good. Feeling surprised by this.

Brief Answer:
Consultation from a cardiologist is needed.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query on HealthcareMagic.

The heart pounding is unlikely to be associated with consumption of sandwich or thick bread.
Infact, you can consult a cardiologist for clinical assessment of the cardiovascular system.
Pounding of the heart is usually due to palpitations.
Palpitations can be totally harmless and can occur due to sympathetic stimulation.
However, a clinical assessment by a cardiologist is required to rule out any cardiovascular disease.
