Brief Answer:
Hereditary and stress

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Welcome to HCM,

I have read your query.

The exact mechanism and risk factors of anginal heart disease and heart attacks is NOT clearly known till date.

Means there are plenty of risk factors (which are probable) involved in the formation of clot/plaque of coronary arteries which lead to sudden cardiac arrest (heart attack).

The most common from among all is hereditary and stress nowadays.

The other risk factors are high lipid diet, lack of enough exercises, diabetes, hypertension etc.

I have seen plenty of people with heart attack or on treatment with it or undergone angioplasty or bypass surgery who never smokes or drink in their entire life.

let me know if you want some more information.

Regards,

Preventive measures for heart attack,

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Welcome Again,

There are some recommended preventive measures for heart attack.

1. Do not smoke and drink. Avoid tobacco or it's preparations.

2. If you have diabetes and high blood pressure (however unlikely at your age), keep it under control as per guidelines.

3. Maintain ideal weight. For Asians ideal body mass index (BMI) is 23.

4. Keep your cholesterol under normal limits. Avoid fried food, saturated fats and sweets.

5. Do regular exercise. Aim for cardiovascular fitness is to do brisk walking for at least 45 minutes a day. This is the goal and should be supervised.

6. Maintain stress free life style.

7. Eat lot of fruits and vegetables. Avoid processed / refined food.

8. Undergo periodic medical check up for minimum once in year which should include routine blood works, lipid profile, liver and kidney function tests, urine tests and ECG.

Talk to your doctor on as and when required basis regarding your physical and mental well being.

Hope this helps.
