What Causes Headache, Sore Throat And Fever?
Question: hi,
on monday night april 25th at 11pm I had a very bad allergy attack my thoart was very itchy and my right eye. I didnt want to take any claritin because I am scheduled to have foot surgery next tuesday and the doctor told me to try not to take any medicine for a week before surgery. I woke up tuesday morning at 5 am with my thoart swollen, unable to breath well so I took claritin thinking it was allergies. although it did help a little I was starting to get a headache and sore thoart throughtout the day. I had preop testing that day and they took urine n blood tests. I have attached the copy of the results. by the end of the night I had a fever and took motrin to help, the fever went down but the sore thoart was getting worse. I can see red lumps when I open my mouth and stick out my tounge. I woke up this morning with a killer headache n sore thoart I couldnt even talk, and again my thoart felt blocked. I had 101.1 fever and I had an appointment with the doctor today. he says my thoart doesnt look infected and to gargle with salt n warm water. he said for the fever keep taking motrin. it seems to me every 6 hours when the medicine wears off my fever spikes right back up to 100.1. he claims its just a bad allergy attack that caused the fever. anyone have any other opinions on what I can do , would greatly be apperciated. I took my precription allergy medicine about an hour ago as well called montelukast sodium tabs 10mg. right now my fever is at 100.3

At this stage I would wait for one more day with Claritin, Motrin and ASPIRIN gargles. I would be very specific on diet, eating hot, more non caffeinated fluids normal temperature. So add ASPIRIN (dissolvable) gargles to what doctor said.
If the problem of sorethroat and fever does not subside I would go back to consult for an antibiotic prescription.
