default
Posted on Thu, 16 Apr 2015
Question: I was trying to break a 2liter bottle with a bat and it bounced back and hit me in the cheek. I got an instant migraine and puked. My faced instantly swelled but no bruising. 5 days later my face is still swollen where it got hit. Half of my face is also numb. I have a black eye. And i get headaches randomly throughout the day. I was wanting to know what type of damage i could have done to my face. I can move my jaw fine, it just hurts.

Brief Answer:
evaluate for bony injury

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for using HCM.
I can understand your problem & concerned with your condition.

As such facial injuries are very painful due to the very high nervous innervation.
But heal faster due to good blood supply.

According to your history it seems like you have most likely hit nerve ending, causing numbness over the face, with radiating headache.

I suggest you to take painkillers like diclofenac or ibuprufen added with anti edema medications like seratiopeptidase or chymoral forte & a course of antibiotics, to reduce the inflammation. Take the medicines under the care of your physician.

Cold compression with icepacks can give good relief.

If the pain & swelling is not reduced, i suggest you to go ahead for x-ray facial bones to rule out for any facial fractures & a CT-Brain to rule out for any injury to the brain.

Hoping for your speedy recovery & good health.
