Brief Answer:
What you describe is absolutely normal.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.

I have gone carefully through your query. Let me assure that for a child of this age, it is absolutely normal to pass stool several times a day and that does not count as diarrhoea. On the other hand, even if the child passes stool once in several days, that is acceptable too, unless it is associated with pellet like stool. In either case, you need not worry about it. Greenish stools are caused due to rapid transit through the large intestine where the bile pigments do not get adequate time to get converted to the yellow pigment that colours our stool That too is not a cause of concern. A child of this age may pass stool after each feed and that too is not something to worry about. In a nutshell, I do not see anything wrong.

In case the stool frequency is more, all you have to do is to give ORS (oral rehydration solution). It can be prepared by dissolving the contents of a XXXXXXX in the designated amount of water, or can be purchased in ready-made form. I think that is the energy drink that you are talking about. I do not think that any medication was required. Your doctor has probably prescribed some probiotics which contain beneficial bacteria. A stool test can be done but I doubt if anything would show up. Bacteria should be present in the stool of ALL individuals and is not a cause for concern. It is only if pus cells are present that antibiotics would be required. Some amount of undigested matter can be there in the stool and probably that is what the white grains are. They are also not a cause of concern. It does not mean that your child is over-fed.

Hope that helps.

Thanks for your reply.
based on your reply it sounds the situation is normal but at times the motion is very loose like water though the colour is yellowish. And also baby lost some weight in last 4 days. My pediatrician prescribed Aristogyl-f but I see no improvement. i started up formula with lactogen stage 1 And my baby was likin it. When he completed 6months I started stage2 and he had digestion issue after every feed he was vomitting and after medication he was ok. Later after 2 weeks he started poopin multiple times. Is lactogen 2 not suiting to his body?? I also think he is teething. I will anyways do a stool test today and will let ypu knw the report details.

Regards.

Brief Answer:
Gradually shift to semi-solids for diet.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for writing back.

Mother's breast milk is the best possible feed for a baby. Most formula milks are cow milk based and hence difficult to digest. If the child cannot digest formula milk like Lactogen 2, it is not really the child's fault. After 6 months of age, weaning with semi-solids is to be done and I would strongly insist that you rapidly switch over primarily to semi-solids with milk just an accessory item. You can practically give all sorts of adult food low on spices but in mashed form. Introduce one new item per week. If otherwise the nutrition is taken care of, formula milk is no longer "essential". Lactogen 2 could be the cause of his passage of loose stools but unless the child becomes lethargic, all you have to give is ORS (oral rehydration solution) to make up for the lost water and salts. Teething is unlikely to be related although putting things in the mouth increases the chances of infection. Aristogyl-F is unlikely to provide relief but since you have started it, you must complete the course in order to avoid development of antibiotic resistance.
