What Causes Fluid Filled Vesicles On Penile Shaft?

default
Posted on Wed, 10 Sep 2014
Question: Hi, about one week ago I woke up with a 3/4 cm waterfilled clear blister on my penus shaft near the base. I have had ingrown hair in the past and am sure that this is not it. I treated it with an antibacterial cream and kept it covered up with a bandaid. It immediately healed but still visiable. There is no pain or itch involved at all. I would have had sex with my wife and also masterbate often (but have not since the blister appeared). Should I be concerned? I have done a lot of research and realize herpes can cause blisters on penis but from my research this is usually small, usually clusters, and involves some sort of discomfort which I am not having any of these symtoms. Just a blister that is taking a week to heal and literally has no feeling of discomfort at all.

Brief Answer:
Clinical image required for furtjer assesment.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query on HealthcareMagic.

Fluid filled vesicles on penile shaft is commonly due to herpes simplex infection.
However, herpes vesicles are multiple and are itchy.
However, there are many other skin lesions which form vesicles.
It would be more helpful if you can post the image of the lesion.

Thanks

I also have a Broken frenulum I don't know if this would cause a blister.
The picture is of a blister that is almost healed.

Brief Answer:
Lesion appears to be primary skin lesion.

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome again,

The blister on the penile shaft appears to be due to a skin lesion rather than a sexually transmitted disease (STD).
There are many blister forming skin diseases which are characterized by formation of fluid filled blisters, these blisters may rupture and lead to formation of raw surface.
The most common group of these blister forming skin diseases is called pitrysiasis.
I suggest you to consult a dermatologist for clinical assessment and investigations most probably a biopsy to confirm the lesion.
Depending on the underlying cause of blistering lesion appropriate treatment is instituted.
Pityriasis is an autoimmune disorder which is treated by immunosuppressants.
Skin lesions of this kind are not transmitted by sexual contact.

Thanks and take care
