What Causes Fluid Filled Black Spot On Back?

default
Posted on Mon, 6 Jul 2015
Question: I have a black spot in the middle of my back. Several months ago i had a pimple there
resembling a "blackhead" which I attempted to squeeze unsucessfully. It didn't bother me or cause pain or itching. In March I rolled over onto my back while sleeping and felt
something pop. In the morning my tee-shirt (light grey) had a residue of a clear substance of it. It didn't look like blood. The pimple was larger then and smaller now but cortisone ointment and antiseptic cream don't seem to have had any effect.
This black spot has a scabby surface but has not grown larger and has not
spread.I intend to see my doctor this week but would like to have your opinion.

has turned black. It still does not bother me. I do have a mild itching sensation at the top of my back on the opposite side from the black spot.

Brief Answer:
sebaceous cyst is most likely possibility

Detailed Answer:
Hello. Welcome to Healthcaremagic.com.
I have read your query.
I understand your concern.
As per details, the most likely possibility for your symptoms is a condition of skin called Sebaceous cyst.
It is characterised by a swelling which is fluid filled and has a central punctum on the surface.
It is most of the times asymptomatic or may develop pain when gets secondarily infected.
Sebaceous cyst does not respond to topical steroid and antibiotic cream.
The best treatment modality for the sebaceous cyst is excision under local anaesthesia.
Else you may go for intralesional steroid injection.
You should visit your doctor so that he can examine you and give you prescription.
You can share my opinion with him.
I hope it helps.
Stay healthy.

Dear Dr Bansal/

Thank you for your response which I found quite helpful.
I visited my doctor this morning and after a careful examination
she diagnosed a mole. She saw no underlying sign of any serious
illness but advised me to make frequent observations of the mole
and to visit her again if there any changes in colour, shape, size.
Thanks again for your in-put.
