What Causes Feeling Of Fullness In Stomach All The Time?

default
Posted on Mon, 23 Feb 2015
Question: This is a first time occurrence but very unusual so that is why I am asking this. Today when eating lunch I became "full" after eating only half of my lunch. And now, 3 hours after eating, I still have that feeling of fullness as if I had just eaten a huge meal. As you know usually as food digests you lose that feeling of being bloated but I still feel the same as I did 3 hours ago. So what would cause me to become full so quickly and why do I still feel the same as when I stopped eating?

Brief Answer:
You might need to be evaluated with ultrasound scan.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

The fullness could be due to a variety of reasons. In Diabetics there could be Gastroparesis where the stomach emptying slows down. Then there could be things causing compression on the stomach from outside.

Therefore in my opinion, you should see a GP or gastroenterologist who will physically examine you and if required an Ultrasound abdomen and an Upper GI Endoscopy can be ordered to look for causes.

Take care and do let us know if there are any further queries on this issue.
