What Causes Feeling Gurgling Sensation In Right Leg After An Injury?

default
Posted on Sat, 26 Apr 2014
Question: On XXXXXXX 25Th of 2013 I was hit by a car while cycling home from work. The car blew through a stop sign at 45mph and struck me on the right side. Among the injuries incurred,I had 3 pelvic fractures and 2 hernias due to the way the saddle came in contact to that region. I have since recovered from most of my injuries, but I am experiencing a strange sensation in the back of my right leg. I feel a gurgling sensation that runs from the buttocks, down the inside of my hamstring, to behind my right knee. You can actually put your hand on the affected area, and feel it moving. The sensation is similar to sucking liquid through a straw that has a split in it. It becomes very uncomfortable at times, and makes sleeping difficult. The symptoms started about 1 week ago and have gradually become more predominant.

Brief Answer: Follows. Detailed Answer: Dear Sir, Thank you for posting your query on HCM. Well looking into your problem I would like to tell you that it could be because of nerve compression that you are getting this sensation , it is resembling sciatica but may not be of the same intensity . I think you will need to see a neurologist for the same because Straight leg raising test will need to be performed plus a MRI of the LS SPINE will be required for the same to see the extent of compression , only after that appropriate decision regarding management can be taken. Take care. Dr. Shruti
