What Causes Excessive Sweating On The Legs?

default
Posted on Wed, 2 Aug 2017
Question: hi my name is fitsum, I'm 29 years old. I came to XXXXXXX 5 years ago. I'm originaly from Ethiopia. I started experiencing a serious health condition when I was studying at university when I was in Ethiopia. The symptoms are sweating on my leg (it gets bad smell and i stressed out when i feel people around me recognize that smell), thirsty, unable to breath, dry lip. Most of the time i leave the class when I'm in class or unable to do my job properly. My leg and other body parts are normal unless I'm in this condition. I believe this bad smell due to sweating on my leg is the result of this health problem, and this reduced my productivity and caused me not to use my full potential to perform daily activity.

Brief Answer:
Rule out causes of excessive sweating, need to undergo a few lab tests

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for being at HealthcareMagic,

I have gone through your complaints and understand your concern.

There are many causes of excessive sweating and offensive smell from the body.
These are thyroid disease, diabetes and raised uric acid.
I would recommend you to get the following tests done to rule out these diseases: thyroid function tests, fasting blood sugar and serum uric acid levels.

Meanwhile, you can use an antifungal dusting powder like Clotrimazole dusting powder on the legs, groin, and axilla 2-3 times in a day and apply a topical antibiotic like Mupirocin cream or Fusidic acid cream on the same areas once at night.

The powder will take care of sweat while antibacterial cream will reduce the offensive smell.

Let me know if I could assist you further.

Regards
Dr Asmeet
