Question: Hello,

I am having problems with my diet. I can eat a very sensible diet during the day but wake up ravishing hungry at 1 and 3 am. I have to eat something. I feel that this compromises my diet and makes me feel guilty afterwards. My doctor did a A1c and I dont have diabetes.

Also I am very forgetful lately I've been taking a memory pill called ceraloft it's great. Anything I can do to help regain my memory I am a teacher

Brief Answer:
COllateral Damage of Depression

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for asking!

lets first discuss the memory issue. Ceraloft is an antidepressant called sertraline and is a sister to zoloft. These help depression and we al know depression itself is a great triggering factor to memory decline. Forgetfulness and declining memory is an inevitable and easily missed sign of depression.

Also age related memory decline is very common inevitable facts. But a good balanced and healthy lifestyle and dietary routine may spare or at least delay the memory decline process.

I have answered a patient already regarding how intelligence quotient and memory works and how environmental factors help improve or derange it . you can enlighten yourself by reading here.

Try to eat healthy fibrous diet in the dinner time and if it still persists seek a psychiatrist as depression is also associated with binge eating. Read how binge eating and over hunger is managed.
