High PSA level needs to be investigated.
Detailed Answer:
Dear Sir, Hi & Welcome.
Thanks for posting your query on HCM.
I can understand your concern.
Prostate-specific antigen (PSA) is a protein produced by cells of the prostate gland. The PSA levels of 4.0 ng/mL and lower as normal. High levels of PSA are associated with prostatic problems such as benign prostatic enlargement, inflammation or infection of the prostate, and cancer of the prostate.
Since you have been diagnosed to have prostatic enlargement your urologist has recommended biopsy of the prostate gland to rule out cancer or malignancy.
It is a simple procedure done under anesthesia in which multiple samples of prostate tissue are collected by inserting hollow needles into the prostate and sent for histopathological examination to rule out cancer.
Hope I could answer your query.
However, if you have any follow up query, I shall be glad to answer it.
Best regards.
