What Causes Dry Hair And Extremely Dry Skin?

Question: i have extremely dry skin which started in maybe Oct or Nov of last year and then last summer i noticed my hair became very dry and brittle and lost a lot of it...i don't have bald spots but no matter what i do i can't seem to get my dry skin fixed...i will be 50 this October

Hair loss and dry skin could be due to hypothyroidism, vitamin B deficiency especially biotin and in some women, it can even develop these symptoms around the time of menopause.

Checking thyroid hormone levels, and biotin levels are required.

Please increase the food intake rich in biotins like soybean, egg yolk etc and vitamin E like almonds, spinach, XXXXXXX etc. in your diet to make your skin and hair healthier.

You can also apply moisturizing creams containing Aloe Vera and coconut oil to help with dryness.
Using a humidifier in your bedroom can also help with dry skin.

Please be advised to follow-up with a primary care provider to check the thyroid levels and appropriate management accordingly.
