Question: Hey Doctor I have question about seizures. So there is case of micro duplication 117 Q12 syndrome, and I believe that there are various symptoms that can be caused by this syndrome illness. Seizures has been ruled out of the issue but I have seen my daughter go into a daze and wont be responsive for a few minutes or so. Also her eyes roll back into her head during these times. Can you please help me understand what can possibly be happening on this issue? I need to know is there something else other than a seizure that this act can be ruled as?

Brief Answer:
Further details needed

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.

I have gone carefully through your query. However, I would need you to provide a few more details. First of all, I am not sure if you have mentioned the microduplication details correctly. Please confirm whether your child has been diagnosed to have it. If not, you need not bother. If yes, please mention what made you go for the testing.

The next thing to ask about the daze is whether there is a specific scenario in which you have made such a observation. I mean to ask whether it happens suddenly when she is talking, or does it happen when she is sleeping, or any other scenario. Also confirm if a video EEG has been done. The given details point towards absence seizures and I need to know if the exclusion has been made by a neurologist.

As such, sudden unresponsiveness could be caused due to vasovagal attacks (syncopes) or certain other conditions like hypoglycemia but it is no use bothering you with jargons unless the remaining presentation matches.

I would await your response.
