Question: When I lay down on my left side for awhile and turn my head suddenly to my right side, I feel my dizziness from my eyes. But when when I put pressure on my eyes (press on my eyes) the dizziness goes away. Why is that?

Brief Answer:
It can be due to delay in inner ear apparatus to maintain balance

Detailed Answer:
Hi! Welcome to health care magic! Thanks for sharing your concerns with us. We will try to help you in best way possible. First of all, let me assure you its not something serious or of worrisome.

Based on the history you have shared, usually our inner ear has sensitive apparatus containing fluid and small fine thread like extensions which act as motion sensors and detect even the finest of the movements and help us maintain balance accordingly. With age or in some cases rapid movements may delay the sensing of this apparatus and makes the person feel dizzy. Pressing the eyes distract the sensing mechanism of eyes from dizziness to pressure sensations and it seems to go away.

Turning the head slowly which you have already tried is the right solution. Rapid movement should also be avoided as precaution for spinal injury or sprain. If symptoms worsen get your blood pressures checked, and a sugar and electrolytes workup alongwith B12 and folic acid levels.

Hope this has answered your query, if you have any more questions, feel free to ask. Regards.
