Having a heavy breakthrough bleeding every other week is distressing. In case this is continuing for more than 3 months and pelvic CT scan, ultrasound scan and a per speculum examination by your gynecologist have not revealed anything then it is likely to be related to a hormonal imbalance.
Usually such imbalances do settle on their own within 3 months of starting the pill. In case the bleeding is persistent and is heavy then a higher dose contraceptive or an additional hormonal therapy is needed to control the bleeding. In addition to this you can start taking iron supplements to combat the excessive blood loss from your body.
Do consult your gynecologist and get the proper hormonal treatment prescribed.
