default
Posted on Sat, 10 Sep 2016
Question: My husband aged 37 years was diagnosed with urinary tract infection (cue teport attached). He took antibiotic for 8 days(prescription attached). After finishing this course, he again got the complete urine examination done (attached). Report showed 3-5/hpf pus cells. He still feels a little discomfort only in night. Is it a matter of concern? Does he need to take another course of antibiotic?

Brief Answer:
Continue taking antibiotics for one more week .

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for query .Your husband has UTI which was confirmed by presence of 8 pus cells detected in microscopic examination of urine ans was prescribed antibiotics for couple of days .

He still has little discomfort at night and has recent urine test has revealed presence of 3-5 pus cells which suggest satisfactory improvement .The discomfort he has is due to mild inflammation (Not infection) of bladder which is common and needs to continue antibiotic for one more week .along with Nitrofurantoin twice daily .

Ensure he drinks more water .This will help to reduce dysuria .

Hope I have answered your query ,please feel free to ask if you have more questions , I shall be happy to help you .
Thanks and Regards.
