What Causes Difficulty Swallowing And Anxiety While On Plavix?

Question: My husband 80 yrs old recently had a stroke and several weeks after had carotid surgery. After this he was prescribed plavix and metropolol. He has had trouble swallowing and anxiety since coming home. Could this be from the medication?

Swallowing problems and anxiety are not related to plavix or metoprolol.

If there is a definite difficulty in swallowing, then, we need to rule out a small brain stroke involving medulla. Also, carotid surgery can rarely lead to this complication of swallowing difficulty.
