default
Posted on Mon, 5 Jan 2015
Question: I have been on Effexor for some time know and doing very well on it, but certainly not out of the woods....My doctor put me on lisinonprol for for BP.(not sure of spelling)...by the 4th day the BP Meds took me back down again with depression.....Question, Is this just a slight setback and should I continue taking the BP pills no matter how bad I feel? Or stop......and once I stop, will I get back to some kind of normalacy soon with just the antidepressant?

Brief Answer:
Wait for a couple of days

Detailed Answer:
HELLO Thanks for asking from HEALTH CARE MAGIC

Lisinorpril is ACE inhibitor drug for BP and Effexor is Venlafaxine. You have been recently started on Lisinopril and the depressive symptoms have become worse.

Over if we consider pharmacological interactions of these drugs then there are no significant interactions found between drugs. Occasional anxiety can be found and no other significant interaction is there is an individual takes the drugs together.

Secondly its only forth day of Lisinopril and at this duration it can't worsen the symptoms of depression. Both drugs act in different ways.

So if your symptoms worsened then as per my opinion you should wait for a couple of days more in order to see improvement. If further worsening occurs then consult your psychiatrist again. As per my opinion the symptoms might be aggravated immediately after starting Lisinopril but the drug has nothing to do with these symptoms.

Take plenty of fluids and diet rich in proteins and carbohydrates and low in fats and you will feel better.

Please mention your symptoms in detail in follow up question so that I can comment more.

Hope it cleared your doubt, if you have more doubts ask again.

Thanks
