What Causes Constipation, Abdominal Cramps, Bloating And Rectal Bleeding While Having Colitis?

default
Posted on Wed, 26 Jul 2017
Question: I need to get to a doctor OR to the emergency room as I feel I have a bowel obstruction, not being able to have a bowel movement in 3 days and feeling cramping and bloating, some small amounts of blood rectally, and having a history of colitis (25 years ago). I was diagnosed with general rectal prolapse in 2011. I do not have a regular doctor as I recently moved. Do I call a gastroenterologist or a colorectal surgeon's office? Also, can I eat anything?

Brief Answer:
can be intestinal obstruction.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for query.

intestinal obstruction, is a mechanical or functional obstruction of the intestines which prevents the normal movement of the products of digestion. Either the small bowel or large bowel may be affected. Signs and symptoms include abdominal pain, vomiting, bloating, and not passing gas.Ileus is the medical term for this lack of movement somewhere in the intestines that leads to a buildup and potential blockage of food material. An ileus can lead to an intestinal obstruction. This means no food material, gas, or liquids can get through.
As you are having symoptroms from last three days without a bowel moment you should go to a gastroenterologist initailly and get a ultrasound done.
No try to take oral diet or very light food.
However to get an ultrasound done initially is the best suggestion.
