Posted on Wed, 25 Mar 2015
Question: for the past two days I've had chills/muscle spasms in my arms and legs, along with some numbness on my left hand fingertips... I have low blood pressure and yesterday it was 95/55 with a slight fever 101 degrees. any ideas here as to the cause? I've had these symptons more than once in the past 2 years,

Brief Answer:
You probably have an infection in he blood!

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you so much for this query.

I am so sorry to hear about these symptoms that you have reported and all the inconveniences this has caused you. From all the information you have provided, I think you have an infection. The antibiotics and a temperature of 101 and low blood pressure are supportive of this. If you still get to develop a low blood pressure, this should be reported to your treating physician as it could be a sign of severe infection. I will also encourage you to drink much fluids.

These are powerful medications and expected to treat a majority of any possible infections. I will like you to follow through and only seek further medical attention if you do not feel much relieved from these medications after 3 days.

I hope this helps. I wish you well. Thanks for using our services and do feel free to ask for more information and clarification if need be.

Many thanks for your prompt, detailed response Dr. Ditah. On your advice I arranged for a blood test. I should have the results early next week, Meanwhile the two antibiotics prescribed ... based on the side effects.. are pretty powerful..giving me gas and a lazy/weak feeling. I shall heed your advice.

Got your response and didn't see it until now. Meanwhile, since I'm an avid user of internet sites, I try to take precautions to ensure such sites are valid, honest and not a risk to my related online security. So, I ask you to please advise where you are based...i.e. what state? And where did you attend med school? thanks again...

thanks for your reply Dr. Ditah... I just returned from an overnight in the hospital where I received an excelerated intravenous of the meds described to you initially along with sodium chloride to up my sodium level. I'm home now but feel a bit weak.. probably because the hospital uped my Levoxacin level from 500mg/day to 750mg and said I should contine with the other antibody regards, XXXXXXX
