Brief Answer:
Kindly upload the nerve test results...

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX

I am sorry for the troubles your husband is having with your left arm. Can you please upload the nerve test, so, I can explain it specifically?

Depending on the nerve test result, it will be judge over the right treatment: whether therapy or surgery could help.

I am sorry to hear that you injured your shoulder one year ago. I am happy at the same time that you got relief with physical therapy. However, there are other parameters to be considered:
- age
- severity of the injury
- underlying diseases and conditions

Now, it depends on the severity of the injury to judge on possible treatment options. Physical therapy is very helpful.

Looking forward to have the nerve test results in!

Brief Answer:
Carpal tunnel syndrome-perfectly treatable...

Detailed Answer:
Hi back XXXXXXX

I have gone through the reports you sent in carefully and I can explain as following:

- The electrodiagnostic study your husband ran was conclusive for moderate left carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS). This is a condition characterized by median nerve entrapment (pinched) in his wrist.

The median nerve is the one responsible for sensation to his thumb and fingers except for the little finger. It is also responsible for hand muscle movement. The CTS is a benign condition that is causing troubles with his hand, possibly: numbness, tingling or weakness when using hand.

Possible causes to carpal tunnel syndrome include everything that can compress the median nerve :
- inflammation: e.g. arthritis
- infection
- bone parts or scar tissue after fracture/trauma

- The EMG/NCV findings were suggestive for moderate nerve compression which explains the symptoms your husband is having (numbness and difficulty in using his hand/arm).

It is true that there is moderate median nerve damage, however, physical examination is needed to decide for surgery or just therapy (drugs or physiotherapy).

As I mentioned earlier, there are many causes to CTS. Further investigations like:
- complete blood count
- ERS
- arthritis testing
- uricemia
- vit.B12 level
- diabetes testing

are needed before deciding for the best treatment option. For the moment, I can only say that this condition is perfectly treatable.

Hope it answered to your queries!
