What Causes Burning Sensation In The Throat And Abdominal Discomfort?

default
Posted on Thu, 14 Apr 2016
Question: My stomach has been giving me some discomfort for over a month. My throat is also burning and I sometimes I feel like I've swallowed soap. I'm constantly clearing my throat. I had a history of reflux but that hasn't been a problem for over 20 years.

Brief Answer:
Gastroscopy should be done.

Detailed Answer:
Hello!

Thank you for the query.

Your current symptoms are quite characteristic for acid reflux. Throat irritated by an acid becomes inflamed and gives pain. You may also have white surface of the tongue.
As there you have had acid reflux before, some more serious issues have to be ruled out. Long lasting acid reflux can cause esophageal changes and lead to a cancer.
You may also suffer from peptic ulcer. H.Pylori infection can be present as well.

That is why, I suggest you to have gastroscopy done.

Hope this helps. Feel free to ask further questions.
Regards.
