What Causes Burning Sensation In The Chest Area?

default
Posted on Tue, 14 Feb 2017
Question: I experienced mild chest burning when walking up a hill briskly today drinking two pints of beer. I was feeling kind of bloated at the same time.

I do exercise with high heart rate two or three times a week and never have any pain.

I also recently had a normal 2D Echo.

Do you think the pain could be angina or is it likely related to gerd or acid reflux from the bloatinf and then brisk walking?

If it was angina would it happen also while exercising or could it really only happen occasionally? When i am at the gym I tske my heart to 170BPM and have no pain.

Brief Answer:
Angina occurs after every exertion

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
This is Dr Sameer, cardiologist.
Angina occur every time when you exercise or stress, it does not happen occasionally. So if you can do exercise normally at gym with such a high heart rate, their is no chance of angina. Still if you want to be more sure you can get a TMT or stress echo done which if negative rules out any underlying heart disease.
Your current episode looks like GERD. So you can take a acidity medication for that like Tab Pantoprazole 40mg once a day before breakfast.
I hope i answered your query.
If you have further question, feel free to ask.
Thanks
Take care
