What Causes Bumps At The Site Of Dog Bite?

default
Posted on Mon, 8 Sep 2014
Question: I had a dog bit my right bicep roughly three weeks ago. There was only a small break in the skin. I was not seen by a doctor. Within a week and a half, the large bruising was almost completely gone. At that time I noticed several small areas of "hardness" some "bumps" so large, they bulge visibly. These have not gone away and are quite tender to the touch. Any advice on what these could be and what to do about it would be appreciated. The entire area is free of discoloration, however, continues to ache and be slightly weaker than normal. Thank you.

Brief Answer:
You may require a course of antibiotics

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Welcome to Healthcare Magic,

Due to breach in the skin caused by the dog bite it may be some infection of the skin which require a course of antibiotics. The antibiotics can be taken by taking a prescription from your doctor.

Continue Tab Ibuprofen and give some hot fermentation which will fasten the wound healing. If there is any discharge from the wound site you may have to undergo lab investigations like CBC and blood culture.
Thank you.
