Brief Answer:
Considerations.

Detailed Answer:
Hello and hanks for the query.

There are a couple of possibilities in this case. A bladder infection could cause some blood in the urine. A urinalysis and culture would help rule this out and would also determine the best antibiotic to use if an infection is found.

The catheter could also have caused minor trauma to the urethra or bladder which could also lead to some blood in the urine. Be careful when using the catheter and use lubricant to minimize trauma.

Lastly, if the blood in urine continues despite care as outlined above then it would be a good idea to see a urologist. It might be necessary to look in the bladder with a tiny camera to make sure there are no polyps or growths within the bladder which could also cause blood in the urine.

Thanks again for sending the query.

Sincerely,

Dr Galamaga
